Department of Communities Dashboard

The latest human services dashboard shows the Hodgman Liberal Government’s commitment to alleviating housing stress and homelessness is helping Tasmanians in need, with a significant improvement on wait times for priority housing applicants.

The dashboard also shows a decrease of an entire month in the average waiting time to house priority applicants in the September 2018 quarter, meaning Tasmanians most in need are accessing housing sooner.

We know there is more work to do, which is why we are investing an additional $125 million into Stage Two of our Affordable Housing Action Plan, taking our total investment into affordable housing to almost $200 million over eight years -  the largest ever State investment into affordable housing in Tasmania’s history.

We have also provided $1.2 million for emergency accommodation and support for Tasmanians in urgent need.

The dashboard figures also indicate general stability in other portfolio areas and areas for improvement which are currently the focus of an additional $24 million investment in frontline staff and major reforms to our child safety services, which will increasingly deliver earlier intervention and better outcomes for at-risk children and their families.

These improvements and reforms are only possible thanks to the outstanding efforts of our hardworking staff, backed by the Hodgman Liberal Government’s continued investment in essential services to support Tasmanians in need.
