Delivering on health plan in the North-West

The Hodgman Liberal Government is prioritising health in the North-West with an extra $79 million over the next six years to take health services in the region to the next level.

We are building on the significant investment we have already made over the past four years in extra nurses, new services, beds and better patient transport.

Having fixed the Budget, we are now able to deliver more beds, new services, and increased staffing in the North-West over the next six years. This includes:

  • A new eight-bed Acute Medical Unit at the North West Regional Hospital
  • A full rehabilitation ward at the Mersey Community Hospital
  • The new Community Rapid Response hospital in the home service
  • More graduate nurses
  • Upgraded air conditioning at the Mersey Community Hospital and improved air conditioning at the NWRH
  • Stage 2 of the King Island Hospital Redevelopment
  • A new Burnie super Ambulance Station
  • Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation at Ulverstone
  • Construction of a multi-storey car park, to provide up to 200 additional spaces for staff and visitors at the Mersey Community Hospital
  • A dedicated training room and new paramedic accommodation to support the Smithton Ambulance station

Unlike Labor, which flies in MPs from the mainland, bringing false promises and fake Opposition money, we are getting on with the job of delivering our comprehensive plan for health services in the North-West, which was overwhelmingly endorsed by the community at the last election.

We are delivering on our promises in Braddon and continuing to work with the Federal Government to deliver the health services people in the North-West deserve.
