The Tasmanian Government’s Teachers Agreement offer to the Australian Education Union delivers a fair, reasonable and affordable 6 per cent pay rise over 3 years for teachers and addresses the fundamental workload concerns it has raised.
The AEU must continue to consult with its members and discontinue industrial action to justify the claim that it is bargaining in good faith.
Our offer addresses the concerns raised by the AEU before the last election – a commitment to recruit 250 additional teachers and 80 teacher assistants. This offer was boosted recently with a commitment to recruit an additional 95 specialist teachers in 2019.

The Tasmanian Government has continually shown its commitment to negotiate in good faith, including with this comprehensive revised offer.
The AEU must continue these negotiations and to keep its members fully informed of the details of this new offer which is both fair and affordable and significantly addresses workload and class size issues which the union says is its major concern.
