Darren Hine Tasmania's Representative on Family Violence Advisory Panel

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to working with the community to reduce violence against women and children.

We welcome today’s announcement by the Prime Minister of the full membership of the Australian Government’s Advisory Panel to Reduce Violence against Women.

Chaired by former Victorian Police Commissioner Ken Lay, the panel also has as its joint deputy chairs Australian of the Year, and family violence advocate, Rosie Batty and the chief executive of the Australian National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety, Heather Nancarrow.

Each state and territory has a representative who brings specialised knowledge across domestic and family violence and related issues.

Tasmania’s nominee was the Commissioner for Police, Darren Hine, who, as a White Ribbon Ambassador, has a personal commitment to tackling violence against women and their children.

We congratulate Mr Hine on his appointment, and wish him and all the members of the Advisory Panel well on their task of advising COAG on practical ways to address violence against women.

Today’s announcement is a step forward in developing a stronger national response to family violence and making our women and children safer.
