Dunalley Primary School nominated for disaster resilience

Congratulations to Dunalley Primary School who have been shortlisted as a finalist in the 2017 Resilient Australia Awards.

The Awards are a national program that recognise and promote initiatives that have a focus on strengthening community disaster resilience.  Dunalley Primary School has been recognised for their work in ‘Rebuilding Dunalley Primary School After the 2013 Fires’.

Earlier this year the school officially celebrated a fresh start after the devastating bushfires in January 2013, with a $6 million rebuild which acknowledged the important role Dunalley Primary School has held in the local community.

Ensuring a temporary school was ready for students on day one of first term following the fires was made possible by the community, government and non-government sectors, council and volunteers working together, and was nothing short of remarkable.

This recognition is well-deserved and I wish Dunalley Primary School all the very best for the Awards ceremony on 23 November.
