Confidence up as economic stimulus package kicks in

The TCCI Survey of Business Expectations shows that confidence is on the rise right around the State.

The Government is committed to working with the private sector to see the boost in confidence translate into economic growth and more jobs for Tasmanians.

Our Northern Economic Stimulus package was specifically designed to boost confidence and bring forward $100 million in projects and it’s clearly working.

As part of the stimulus package, the Government set up a $60 million fund to help local councils in the north and north west bring forward planned infrastructure projects and the Government will shortly announce the next round of successful projects.

Other elements of the stimulus package, such as school infrastructure upgrades and housing projects are also underway with construction to commence shortly.

It’s little wonder that confidence is on the rise, given retail turnover is at record highs, the building and construction sector is strong and Tasmania continues to welcome record visitor numbers to our shores.

The Government will continue to take action to boost confidence, create jobs and grow the economy.
