Confidence on the rise in Launceston, but locals still remember Scott Bacon’s slur

Later today, Labor’s shadow Treasurer, Scott Bacon will make a rare visit to Launceston.  Mr Bacon’s trips to Launceston have been few and far between following an infamous post on social media, where he stated: “Launceston bound. Is it as bad as I remember it?"*

When Mr Bacon arrives in Launceston, he will see how it has transformed over the past three years.  He will see established businesses thriving and expanding, new businesses opening, major developments coming out of the ground and huge new investments on the horizon.  Since the disastrous Labor-Green Government was thrown out three years ago, the mood has changed and confidence is building.

The Hodgman Government has been working hard to boost the northern economy through measures such as the $100 million Northern Economic Stimulus plan.

The recently released TCCI Survey of Business Expectations showed that the north is very positive about the future and believes that under the Hodgman Government the economy is turning around.

While Mr Bacon said his slur on Launceston was a joke, actions speak louder than words.
