Reports that valued community health services in the Kentish and Meander Valley communities will no longer receive Australian Government funding are concerning.
As a local Member, I have written to the Federal Assistant Minister for Rural Health, Dr David Gillespie, to seek a review of this decision.
I have also taken the matter up with Liberal Senator Jonathan Duniam.
State Health Minister Michael Ferguson today visited Tandara to discuss the issues and has also raised the matter with federal representatives seeking an appropriate resolution.
The current services – including physiotherapy, podiatry, osteopathy, and women’s and youth health services – have been of great benefit to many in these regional communities.
The Australian Government should consider the respective communities’ strong support for the existing service providers.
