College Orientation

The Tasmanian Government is committed to improving our retention and attainment rates.

All Colleges are continuing to develop strong partnerships with their associate high schools and we encourage innovative models of delivery suited to local circumstances to improve educational outcomes.

Launceston and Newstead Colleges are taking an alternative approach to orientation, and both Colleges are working very closely with high schools to ensure students are successfully transitioned, and then supported to achieve their full potential in their new learning environment.

This may include a range of orientation activities over time and will be negotiated with high school principals.

The other Colleges around the state have not changed their approach to orientation. Suggestions to the contrary are incorrect.

As usual the Labor Opposition are ignoring their own appalling record when it comes to educational outcomes in this state and have nothing to offer but scaremongering and negativity.
