COAG meeting in Tasmania

Tasmania will host the next Council of Australian Governments (COAG) meeting, later this year.

COAG is the forum for Federal, State, Territory and local government leaders to meet and consider matters of national significance.

Tasmania is the number one place to come to for tourists or business conferences, and this now includes the nation's peak intergovernmental forum.

Recent important announcements with significant funding commitments, including to secure the future of the Mersey Hospital, the visionary Launceston City deal and cementing Tasmania's place as the country's renewable energy battery, are a result of the strong leadership position we have taken at a national level, and working cooperatively with the Federal Government.

The Tasmanian Government and the Tasmanian Liberal Senate Team have been advocating strongly to make this happen.

This is the first time a COAG meeting has been held in Tasmania for nearly eight years, and it will be a wonderful opportunity to keep the nation's spotlight firmly on our State.
