Charitable rates remissions

The Government is consulting with key stakeholders such as TasCOSS and the Local Government Association regarding the recent High Court decision on charitable rates remissions.

It would be irresponsible to rush into a decision without adequate consideration and consultation.

Given the impact on Councils and charities, it’s vitally important that we understand all the impacts that any legislative reform may have before any decision is made, to ensure a fair result for everyone.

It is disappointing that Labor have formed a view and are demanding action without adequately consulting all of the stakeholders that will be impacted by any changes.

If Anita Dow is serious about bipartisanship on this issue, I urge her to stop playing silly political games and allow this process to run its course.
