Century of ANZAC website launch

Today I launched the Tasmanian Centenary of ANZAC website www.centenaryofanzac.tas.gov.au and the 'Tasmania Centenary of ANZAC Facebook page.

The website is a hub of Centenary of ANZAC commemoration activities and information for Tasmanians, and includes:

• An interactive timeline that shows significant Tasmanian and Australian historic dates from wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations since the Federation of Australia in 1901.
• A place for Tasmanians to share and publish untold stories of war, never before seen photos and stowed away memorabilia.
• A calendar of events that will feature commemoration events being held throughout the Centenary.
• Historical information about Tasmania's rich military history.

The 'Tasmania Centenary of ANZAC' Facebook pagewww.facebook.com/centenaryofanzac provides an informal, two-way channel for engaging with the Tasmanian community on the Tasmanian Centenary of ANZAC.

The Tasmanian community is encouraged to take part in the Centenary, by not only participating in commemoration activities, but by sharing stories and photos of their family's war history through the new website and Facebook page.

The Centenary of ANZAC, from 2014 – 2018, commemorates 100 years of service and sacrifice by Australian service-men and women in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations since World War One.

The Department of Premier and Cabinet will coordinate and promote all commemoration activities, including those run by the Tasmanian Government, local government, the Australian Government and community sector organisations across Tasmania.
