Centenary of ANZAC Grants Program

Ten Tasmanian organisations will receive funding as part of the Hodgman Liberal Government’s Centenary of ANZAC Grants Program.

The Centenary of ANZAC is one of the most significant commemorative periods in Australia’s history.

The funds have been given to organisations delivering events celebrating the Centenary of Armistice or commemorating Tasmania’s World War One Diggers and history.

Around 15,485 Tasmanian servicemen and women enlisted in World War One. Sadly, 2,432 paid the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives.

The Government is committed to ensuring that the great contribution and sacrifice of Tasmania’s servicemen and women are remembered.

Projects that will receive funding include:

  • Northern Midlands RSL Sub Branch for Remembrance Day 2018 at Longford, to commemorate 100 years since WW1 Armistice.
  • RAAF Association Tasmania Division, Anniversary of the Battle of Britain Commemoration of Air Force project;
  • Tasman Peninsula Historial Society, Nubeena Foreshore Trail; and
  • King Island Historical Society, Beyond the Seas: Commemorating King Island’s ANZACs project.
