A commemorative garden, a community theatre project and the creation of an avenue of honour are among 14 projects to receive funding through the Centenary of ANZAC Grants Program.
The Centenary of ANZAC is a chance for Tasmania to come together to recognise the service and sacrifice of Tasmanian service-men and women in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.
The Liberal Government is committed to ensuring their sacrifice is not forgotten, which is why we offered a pool of $50,000 to projects that commemorate this important anniversary.
The successful applicants were determined using guidelines formulated by the Centenary of ANZAC Steering Committee and the Tasmanian Veterans' Advisory Council.
Fourteen applicants will share in the funding, including RSLs, colleges, high schools and Rotary clubs.
The Centenary of ANZAC represents one of the most significant occasions for our nation.
It is only fitting that we continue to recognise the great contribution and sacrifice made by many Tasmanians, including 2,342 who lost their lives in World War One.
