The work of Tasmania’s rangers is vital in the daily management of our 19 national parks and more than 800 reserves, encompassing approximately 50 per cent of the State.
World Ranger Day is a timely reminder to reflect on the important work our rangers perform.
From assisting visitors to our reserves, building and maintaining visitor infrastructure, assisting search and rescues, to fire and pest management and compliance work, Tasmania’s Parks and Wildlife Service rangers work hard to preserve our precious natural assets so future generations can enjoy our State’s unrivalled natural environment.
The Tasmanian Government recognises the important role our rangers play which has been highlighted by our recent announcement to recruit 15 new staff in the Parks and Wildlife Service.
All Tasmanians should be very proud of the commitment and dedication shown by our rangers across the State.
World Ranger Day is the annual celebration which highlights the work of rangers and commemorates rangers killed or injured in the line of duty around the world.
World Ranger Day is promoted by the 63 member associations of the International Ranger Federation and its partner, the Thin Green Line Foundation.
