The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to supporting TasTAFE to deliver skills training that provides pathways to work for Tasmanians from all walks of life.
Tonight I will have the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of 1500 North-West students who received a qualification through TasTAFE in 2014 at a ceremony at the Burnie Arts and Function Centre.
Tomorrow I'll attend the Northern graduation to recognise the achievements of 1700 students at the Tailrace Centre in Launceston.
Graduations are a great chance to celebrate the many inspiring stories in our vocational education and training sector, whether students are receiving a Certificate I or an Advanced Diploma.
One of my top priorities as Minister for Education and Training is ensuring Tasmanians have a public training provider that is focused on developing real skills for real jobs in a competitive training environment.
TasTAFE is achieving this goal and supporting students to learn no matter what their circumstances or where they live.
A recent survey by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) shows the majority of TasTAFE graduates have good employment outcomes after completing their training.
The survey of 704 TasTAFE graduates showed that at May 2014, 72.2 per cent of TasTAFE graduates had full or part-time employment.
The achievements of almost 6000 TasTAFE students are being celebrated state-wide with a southern graduation ceremony also held in Hobart on 5 March.
