Celebrating our Women in Resources Awards finalists

Congratulations to Tasmania’s top women in resources, manufacturing and energy sectors, following the announcement of the 2020 Women in Resources Tasmania Awards today in Launceston.

Each year we are seeing the number of nominations grow, demonstrating that more and more women are making their mark in these industries, across a diverse range of roles including management, engineering, manufacturing and trades.

I had the privilege of again being part of the independent judging panel, and the calibre of entries in 2020 was outstanding, making selecting finalists and winners an increasingly difficult task.

These women are making a significant and increasing contribution to the resources, manufacturing and energy sectors, as well as their local communities, and these important awards help to showcase women’s capabilities and demonstrate what is possible to young women considering career choices.

I would like to acknowledge all entrants in this year’s awards.  Each is making important contributions to their respective businesses and to the Tasmanian resources, manufacturing and energy industry overall and I encourage them to try again next year.

Winners of the Women in Resources Tasmania Awards go into the National Women in Resources Awards to be presented later in the year.

We wish each of you the best of luck and I’m sure you will do us proud representing Tasmania on the national stage.

The Awards are coordinated by the Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing and Energy Council in conjunction with the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Women in Mining Network Tasmania and with support from Bell Bay Aluminium, Nyrstar, Caterpillar Underground Mining, Hazell Bros and Cement Australia.
