Carers Week 2018 is an appropriate time to thank and pay tribute to all our hard working and dedicated carers in Tasmania.
Running from October 14-20, Carers Week recognises and celebrates the important role that care-givers play in ensuring that loved ones are provided with the support they need to improve their quality of life.
This year’s theme is ‘Why We Care’, and is an opportunity to hear personal stories and testimonies from carers within the community.

We have also made Carers Tasmania a peak body for the first time, and substantially increased their funding in recognition of the important role they play along with Mental Health Carers Tasmania.
In Tasmania alone, there are an estimated 84,000 people in caring roles, and we acknowledge and thank them for the sacrifices that they make in caring for their loved ones and in building our community.
I also thank and commend the staff and volunteers of Carers Tasmania and Mental Health Carers Tasmania for co-ordinating the Carers Week program this year and working hard every day to further improve the lives of Tasmanian Carers.
