The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to working with the community to address family violence.
Today, we brought together our External Consultative Group along with representatives from the broader community and community sector organisations for a Family Violence Workshop.
About 80 participants contributed their interest, their experience and their expertise to discussions that are all about helping to develop for Tasmania a Family Violence Action Plan.
Workshop participants were asked to share their ideas on what we could do differently and their views on what actions should be prioritised.
The Government also wants to hear from the wider community, and that’s why we have posted information online at www.dpac.tas.gov.au and have established an email address at fvap@dpac.tas.gov.au for Tasmanians to send in their thoughts.
We understand this is a very sensitive issue, and we want to assure anyone wishing to make a contribution that we will receive all correspondence in confidence and with respect for people’s privacy.
The Family Violence Action Plan will focus on:
The Action Plan is being overseen by the Family Violence Cabinet Committee and will be released in August this year.
This plan will complement, support and build on work that is already addressing family violence in Tasmania, including initiatives under the National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and their Children 2010-2022.
