The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to providing more affordable homes for Tasmanians in need.
On the release of our Affordable Housing Strategy in 2015, we announced a four-year action plan that includes building more than 900 new homes.
This plan is delivering modern housing for low-income individuals and families right around Tasmania, and is also creating more jobs in our important building and construction industry.
A re-elected majority Liberal Government will not only redouble our efforts to build more affordable housing, we will triple the number of new homes we plan to build.
Our new target under our Plan to Build Your Future will bring the total of new affordable houses to 2700 by 2025.
Thousands more Tasmanians will have a roof over their heads under a Liberal Government that does more than talk about those in need; we invest in delivering better outcomes.
Right now, we are building homes around the State that match the needs of Tasmanians, such as here in Warrane where a pair of two-bedroom units are under construction for residents who are elderly or living with a disability.
Tasmanian building company Wilson Homes will deliver these new units in January next year, ready for people to move in and make them their homes.
Under a re-elected Liberal Government, more and more Tasmanians in need will be able to join them in moving into new affordable housing.
In delivering our Plan, we will continue to work with the community sector, with organisations such as Shelter Tasmania, because we have a shared commitment to ensuring all Tasmanians have a safe, affordable place to call home.
