Every Tasmanian knows how devastating bushfires can be, and the Government is committed to keeping Tasmanians and their families as safe as possible.
That is why a re-elected majority Liberal Government has set a target to decrease the bushfire risk to Tasmanian lives and properties by 33 per cent by 2022.
The last thing anyone wants is to look out their window and see fire threatening themselves, their family or their property, which is exactly why we have committed $55 million to our highly successful Fuel Reduction Program since coming to Government in 2014.
This investment has reduced the risk to lives and property by 4.5 per cent over the last three years, with some communities having their bushfire risk halved since the start of the Program.
While this is pleasing, we know we can do better, and this new target to further reduce the bushfire risk will help make Tasmania an even better place to live and raise a family.
