Under the majority Liberal Government, Tasmania is open for business and we are seeing growing confidence across industries and across the State.
Strong growth in real estate sales and a record increase in the value of homes sold, together with reports of tourist accommodation being booked out, highlight the demand for new investment.
Our building reforms will help developers – whether they are businesses wanting to build new hotels or families wanting to renovate their homes – to realise their plans.
Developed in close cooperation with the building and construction industry and hailed by the sector itself as “nation-leading”, our reforms mean licensed builders and plumbers no longer need council building permits for a range of works, up to and including two-storey homes.
This is about saving time and money for industry and consumers alike and encouraging rather than discouraging development.
