Building a future in the construction industry

The Hodgman Liberal Government is Building Tasmania’s Future by supporting projects that ensure students are job ready.

Today’s launch of the Apprenticeship Scheme Building Futures Project at Get Real Work Wear is a great example of how the Government is helping students get the skills they need to get a job, connecting students earlier with their chosen career.

This will deliver a new entry level pathway into an apprenticeship or traineeship within the building and construction industry for 20 students from five schools.

The project is part of the Multi Industry Schools-Based and Pre-Apprenticeship support pilot project that is supported by the Australian Government Department of Education and Training.

The Building Futures Project connects government, industry, schools and community to provide job opportunities and pathways for our young people, giving students work readiness skills and an understanding of industry expectations across multiple trades over the course of the school year.

This Government understands that every school community student is unique, which is why we are committed to working with school communities and industry to find innovative ways to encourage students to stay in education and training longer.

While we are proud of recent improvements in education, we will continue to progress the structural change and targeted investment necessary to give every Tasmanian a better education and greater opportunity in life.

We are committed to creating a job ready generation of young Tasmanians and that is why we will continue to implement our long-term Plan to Build Tasmania’s Future.
