Bryan Green caught out again misleading

Tasmania’s part-time Labor Leader Bryan Green has admitted he has misled Tasmanians about his fishing business.

I intend to write to the ACCC to ask the commission to investigate false advertising on Mr Green’s Twin Lakes website.

As revealed by the Advocate on Tuesday, Mr Green is scaling further back as leader of the opposition and spending more and more time at his new business venture, 300 km away from his electorate office in Burnie.

Mr Green was pinged by the Advocate which revealed the website boasted Mr Green was greeting guests.

“When you arrive at Twin Lakes you will be greeted by Bryan who is the manager and an accomplished fly fisherman with over 30 years’ experience under his belt.”

Mr Green did not deny it when challenged by the media earlier this week, but today on ABC Mornings* he said the website was wrong and needed to be corrected.

He has been caught out hook, line and sinker.

If it’s wrong why wasn't it changed on Monday when the Advocate newspaper brought it to Mr Green's attention? Why did it take until he was challenged on live radio before he agreed to change it?

It sounds like Mr Green has either been engaged in false advertising or perhaps more likely he is trying to fudge how often he spends working at his business and not as Opposition Leader, which taxpayers pay him to do.

*COMPTON: How can you be Leader of the Opposition on a quarter of a million dollars a year and promising to meet people when they arrive at a fishing lodge?

GREEN: No, it shouldn’t be there.  Actually, we’ve got a caretaker/manager there and a fulltime employee. I’m rarely there, and we’ve hardly had any people come through the venture. So, it’s just not true, and I need to correct it. It was taken.., the new owners’ names were put in where the old owners were, and I need to correct it, that’s a mistake.

COMPTON: Okay. So, you’re not greeting people on arrival…

GREEN: No, no, no (laughingly).
