Boosting sport and recreation facilities

High quality and well-planned sport and recreation facilities are critical to participation in sport, recreation and physical activity in Tasmania.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to supporting the development of such facilities to ensure more people are engaging in these opportunities.

That’s why we ensure our Sport and Recreation Major Grants Program provides assistance to organisations that promote sport, recreation and an active lifestyle in Tasmania.

We know that better facilities increase opportunities for all Tasmanians to participate.

The Program provides grants of between $15,000 and $80,000 to assist with major equipment purchases and the development/improvement of facilities or playing surfaces.

As we work towards our Healthy Tasmania goal of being the healthiest state and having the lowest rate of obesity in Australia by 2025, the Government is encouraging all Tasmanians to get involved and get active.

Applications for grants under the 2018-19 Sport and Recreation Major Grants Program are now open and must be received by 12 noon on Thursday, 1 November 2018.

The 2018-19 Sport and Recreation Major Grants Program Guidelines and Application Form are available at www.communities.tas.gov.au/csrgrants, by email at csrgrants@communities.tas.gov.au or by telephone on 1800 204 224.
