Best of Tasmania showcased in Taste of North-West

The Hodgman Liberal Government is the strongest supporter of our primary industries, boutique food and beverage producers and our diverse regional communities and this weekend’s Taste of the North-West, which coincides with Mural Fest at Sheffield, showcases the best of what Tasmania has to offer.

Tasmania has earned an international reputation for its quality produce and the North-West has a natural advantage in many areas because of its rich farmland and temperate climate.

During my recent trade mission to East Asia there was great interest and emphasis on our premium products and the quality supply chain from paddock to plate which sets us apart.

Today, in Sheffield, there are many great examples of home grown beers, ciders and wines through to our magnificent vegetables, honeys and mushrooms and also the top-end paddock to plate experience like Mount Gnomon Farm.

Combining Mural Fest and the 30 stalls at the Taste of the North-West in Sheffield is expected to attract up to 10,000 people to the region this weekend.

We know that Tasmania is enjoying booming visitor numbers, including many from overseas, and unique events like the Taste of the North-West and Mural Fest will further enhance our reputation for a great visitor experience and outstanding food and wine.

Congratulations to the organisers of both events – you continue to showcase why Tasmania is one of the world’s must-visit and must-taste destinations.
