Be great and nominate for the 2019 Australian of the Year Awards

Nominations for the 2019 Australian of the Year Awards are now open.

I encourage all Tasmanians to ‘be great and nominate’ those who make our State a better place to live.

There are countless Tasmanians doing remarkable work every day. The Australian of the Year Awards are an important recognition of those who are making extraordinary contributions at the local, state or national level.

Tasmanians can nominate anyone who inspires them, is working towards change or who they believe makes Tasmania and Australia a better place to live.

The award categories include:

  • Australian of the Year;
  • Senior Australian of the Year (65 years and over);
  • Young Australian of the Year (16 to 30 years); and
  • Australia’s Local Hero.

Being nominated is a great honour and not only gives nominees due recognition but, in many cases, also creates a platform for them to further their cause.

Nominations close 31 July 2018 and more information can be found www.australianoftheyear.org.au
