Basslink Return to Service Welcomed

The Liberal Government welcomes the return to service today of the Basslink interconnector.

Our Energy Supply Plan has successfully delivered for the State, and now Hydro Tasmania will be able to carefully manage our hydro reserves through Winter and into Spring.

Downpours throughout May and into this month have left many of our smaller storages very full, with some overflowing, and it is important that Hydro run these power stations to provide capacity for more rain.

With overall storages at 27.1 per cent, we are in a much stronger position than we were only a month or two ago.

We will continue to focus on rebuilding those storages.

On behalf of the Government, I wish to thank all those who have played a role in returning the Basslink interconnector to service and in implementing our successful Energy Supply Plan.
