On behalf of the Tasmanian Government, I would like to offer my warm congratulations to Barnardos 2019 Tasmanian Mother of the Year Sallee Zanardi.
Sallee is mother to 11 children, aged between four months and 23 years – a truly amazing feat.
In addition to raising four of her own children, Sallee is raising seven other children as a foster mother since 2013.
Foster carers like Sallee give their time, affection, and open up their homes to raise children in a supportive and loving environment.
Sallee is a shining example of the goodwill and care that exists in our community, and this award highlights the selfless work of all foster carers in Tasmania.
Once again, I congratulate Sallee on her well-deserved recognition, and wish her and her family all the best for their future.
