Award Winners Demonstrate Excellence in Education

Embargoed until 10pm Friday October 31, 2014

Tonight's RBF Department of Education Awards for Excellence Awards recognised some of our best public educators, volunteers and staff.

The 18 award winners represent the wealth of individuals and teams within the Department whose outstanding excellence, innovation and talent is at the forefront of educating our young people.

The school-based awards, which I was pleased to present, were won by principals and teachers from across the State.

The Liberal Government is committed to investing in education to create a job-ready generation, and the award winners and finalists recognised tonight are critical to helping us achieve that goal.

On behalf of the Government, I would like to congratulate all the winners and finalists, and I would also like to thank the Retirement Benefits Fund, ME Bank and the Teachers Health Fund for partnering with the Department to present these awards.

Recognising excellence is always important in any field, and it is particularly important for those whose work has such an impact on others and benefits Tasmania more broadly.
