Today’s announcement that MMG Limited and Avebury Nickel Mines Limited (ANML) have been unable to finalise the sale agreement is disappointing news for the West Coast.
While we would have preferred this sale to proceed, we note that MMG remains committed to ensuring the operation is up and running again.
The Hodgman Liberal Government stands with the West Coast and we are prepared to consider a similar conditional support package, like that offered to ANML, to other potential purchasers, subject to an appropriate due diligence and assessment process.
We will continue to work with MMG during the ongoing care and maintenance period as all parties look to secure a positive future for the mine and local community.
