Australian Wooden Boat Festival setting sail in Hobart this weekend

The 2019 MyState Australian Wooden Boat Festival is expected to welcome in excess of 120,000 visitors over four days to what is the largest collection of wooden boats in the southern hemisphere.

The Tasmanian Government is proud to support the Festival, through Events Tasmania, which celebrates our long maritime culture heritage and has become an iconic event on the local, national and international stage.

It is estimated around three thousand people will come from interstate and overseas for the event, injecting approximately $3 million into our visitor economy.

Tasmania has a vibrant reputation as an events capital and the Australian Wooden Boat Festival has been a pioneer in developing our reputation.

Also, this year’s Festival is another important reminder that despite the current bushfire situation, Tasmania is open for business.

Tourism is one of Tasmania’s great competitive strengths, supports over 38,000 jobs in every corner of the State and is a major reason why our economy is the fastest growing in the nation.

For those here in Tasmania, and those looking to visit, the best thing you can do for our State at this time is to book a trip and come and visit this magnificent part of the world.
