Australian television first Little J & Big Cuz welcomed to our screens

The Hodgman Liberal Government is proud to be supporting the ground breaking children’s animation Little J & Big Cuz, which will premiere on NITV today.

The Government has invested $180,000 into the project which has been animated by Hobart firm Blue Rocket and directed by Tasmanian Tony Thorne.

Shows like this not only enhance our growing reputation for great productions, but also provide a great boost for Tasmanian businesses with around $1 million of expenditure for Little J & Big Cuz being injected into the local economy.

The series follows cousins Little J and Big Cuz as they learn about the world around them and marks the first time an animation has featured Indigenous Australians.

Little J & Big Cuz features an all-star cast with the award-winning Deborah Mailman as the voice of Big Cuz and Miranda Tapsell as Little J.

It is also fantastic to see that the show has been produced in a number of Indigenous languages, including Tasmania’s own palawa kani.

It’s yet another example of our growing screen sector which has a diverse and growing list of successful productions to its name, including recent Logie winner The Kettering Incident, nominee Rosehaven and the Academy Award nominated feature film Lion.

I congratulate everyone involved in the production of this significant and highly anticipated series.
