Jeremy Rockliff, Acting Premier

Australia Day Honours

Congratulations to 31 Tasmanians who have been named in this year’s Australia Day honours.

In particular we acknowledge our own Governor, her Excellency Professor the Honourable Kate Warner for being awarded a Companion (AC) in the General Division.

She was recognised for eminent service through leading contributions to the legal community, to higher education as an academic researcher and publisher, and as a supporter of the arts, and environmental and social justice initiatives.

Two Tasmanians were appointed Officers (AO) in the General Division – Emeritus Professor William Mulford for distinguished service to academic administration and management and the Honourable Christopher Wright QC for distinguished service to the judiciary and Supreme Court.

Five Tasmanians were named Members (AM) in the General Division and 12 received Medals (OAM) in the General Division.

A further 11 Tasmanians received meritorious medals for outstanding service to police, fire, ambulance and emergency services.

Tasmania’s award recipients have made a tremendous contribution to our State and I thank and congratulate each of them.
