Australia Day is an important day to celebrate our nation and all that makes us the lucky country.
For the first time Tasmanians are invited to join the Australia Day Address.
This is the second year that an eminent Australian has been invited to offer their perspective on Australia's identity.
The event brings together the community and leaders in a conversation and public debate on issues around Australia's identity and the future of our nation.
This year, I am pleased to welcome Fred Chaney AO, a leading advocate for Aboriginal reconciliation and constitutional recognition.
Mr Chaney, who was recognised as the 2014 Senior Australian of the Year, will deliver an address entitled: Australia – are we ready for reconciliation?
I encourage Tasmanians to share in the conversation at this free public event.
The Australia Day Address will be held at Wrest Point Convention Centre on Thursday January 22 from 5:30pm to 6:30pm.
