Ashgrove Cheese is wrapped with butter boost

Ashgrove Cheese is one of Tasmania’s iconic food manufacturers and the doubling of its butter production capacity reflects enormous confidence in Tasmania’s growing economy.

The Hodgman Liberal Government continues to back our local high-quality producers and products which build on our reputation for fine foods, and, in partnership with the Australian Government, supported the upgrade to the butter wrapping equipment with $84,000 from the Tasmanian Jobs and Investment Fund.

This $256,000 investment by Ashgrove at its Elizabeth Town farm will help the business to meet the growing demand for its high value butter products and take its products to even more consumers around the state and nation.

Importantly, the project has also created five new full-time jobs at Ashgrove providing opportunities for employment in a regional area where jobs are often in short supply.

Already Ashgrove Cheese supplies Woolworths and Coles with its Farmhouse and Herb and Garlic Butter ranges as well as taking its products to independent supermarket and grocery stores right around Australia.

Ashgrove’s products have become so popular that it has struggled to meet growing demand and has forced the company to ration supplies to independent retail customers.

The doubling of Ashgrove’s butter production capacity will enable the business to meet some of this excess market demand and ensure continuity of supply into fridges nation-wide.

Ashgrove is an example of a great Tasmanian company doing great things on the national stage and reinforcing our reputation for world-class gourmet offerings.

The Tasmanian Jobs and Investment Fund is a $24 million grants program jointly funded by the Australian ($16 million) and Tasmanian ($8 million) governments.

Overall 56 projects have been supported under the program with a total investment of some $92.6 million creating 774 new jobs.
