The Tasmanian Government is committed to developing our state’s cultural and creative industries by supporting assistance programs and professional development opportunities.
The Government, through Arts Tasmania, delivers a Professional Development Fellowship program that offers three fellowships of $5 000 each to Tasmanian artists and arts workers and a one-off Manufacturing Design Fellowship of $7 000 to Tasmanian designers.
The fellowships enable recipients to undertake a self-devised program of professional development - gaining new skills and knowledge, extending their creative practice and developing their career.
I am pleased to announce the 2016 Professional Development Fellowships have been awarded to Rosemary Antonini, Kylie Johnson and Fiona Stewart.
Rosemary Antonini of Hobart is an emerging arts administrator. The fellowship will enable her to travel to the United Kingdom to attend the 2017 British Orchestras Conference and undertake activities with various orchestras including the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
Kylie Johnson of Hobart is a curator, artist and arts administrator, and the fellowship will allow her to work with three London based not-for-profit organisations researching new exhibition models and networking with artists and arts professionals.
Fiona Stewart of Hobart is an established actor, singer and voice teacher. The fellowship will allow Ms Stewart to attend a specialist voice training workshop with two internationally respected teachers in Puducherry, India.
The Manufacturing Design Fellowship was awarded to two Tasmanian furniture designers, Scott van Tuil and Matthew Prince. The fellowship will allow Mr van Tuil and Mr Prince to work with a small-scale Hobart based manufacturing company to access specialist machinery.
