Artist Investment Program now open

The Liberal Government is a strong supporter of the Arts in Tasmania.

Tasmania's cultural sector is a competitive strength of our state and provides important social, economic and public value in our community.

Expressions of Interest are now open for Arts Tasmania's new Artist Investment Program.

The Artist Investment Program provides arts practitioners with the opportunity to undertake projects that enable them to further their career and develop their artistic practice.

There are two categories of investment available under the new program:

  • Development for creative and professional development activities; and
  • Delivery for activities that enable artists to present their work to the public, or better engage with their audiences.

For the first time artists will be able to make submissions for both categories in the same investment round, and a new two-stage application process has been introduced aimed at reducing the upfront work required by artists, with the initial Expression of Interest focusing solely on the artistic idea.

Selected artists will then be invited to make a full application requiring a budget and project plan.

Individual artists based in Tasmania are eligible to apply along with partnerships, collaborations and other unincorporated groups with at least one Tasmanian member. Applicants may include actors, arts administrators, choreographers, composers, crafts people, dancers, designers, musicians, playwrights, poets, bands, visual artists and writers.

The new Artist Investment Program is the result of several years' formal and informal consultation with industry, shaped by feedback received from the new models of arts investment directions paper and artist survey.

Expressions of Interest close on 16 April 2015.
