This week Tasmanians have witnessed the professionalism and dedication of our emergency service personnel who, despite difficult conditions, have worked diligently to keep the community safe and rescue those in trouble.
The rescues of several people from our Parks are a testament to the expertise, training and commitment of our emergency response teams who have used their skills to save lives.
It has been an outstanding team effort from Tasmania Police, State Emergency Service, Ambulance Tasmania, Parks and Wildlife Service and volunteers.
We know that bad weather can strike at any time in Tasmania and catch out even extremely well-prepared walkers. This makes it even more essential for hikers to be prepared, carry an EPIRB, give details of your trip to a relative, take the right equipment and if the weather looks ominous, delay your trip for a few days.
On behalf of all Tasmanians, thank you to our emergency service workers who in a critical time of need have again gone above and beyond to protect the community.
