Appointment of a Commissioner of the Huon Valley Council

Yesterday, I informed the community that the Huon Valley Council had been dismissed.

Today I can confirm that Adriana Taylor has been appointed as Commissioner of the Huon Valley Council and will formally commence work in the role on Monday.

Commissioner Taylor has been in public life for some time and would be well known to many in the Huon community.  She was elected to Glenorchy City Council in 1999 and served as Mayor of the Glenorchy City Council between 2005 and 2011 and was also the Legislative Council Member for Elwick between May 2010 and May 2016.

Commissioner Taylor has the skills, knowledge and experience to provide the stability and certainty that the Huon Valley Council needs.

On behalf of the Government, I would like to thank Commissioner Taylor for accepting what will no doubt be a challenging role to guide the Huon Valley Council through the next 12 months.

At the end of that period, the Government will decide whether to extend the Commissioner’s contract or to call fresh elections.
