The Government is pleased to announce the key appointments of Jenny Gale to the position of Secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Tim Bullard to the position of Secretary of the Department of Education, and Kathrine Morgan-Wicks to the position of Secretary of the Department of Justice.
Ms Gale has been acting in the role since November 2017 and has displayed a clear commitment to improving outcomes for Tasmania, in leading the public service while acting.
Ms Gale has outstanding leadership credentials and experience, having worked in a number of senior leadership roles in her 37-year career including as the Secretary of the Education Department, and as the Deputy Premier’s Chief of Staff.
Ms Gale is the first female in well over a decade to have led the public service and I look forward to working closely with her across the next term of Government as we deliver on our plans for Tasmania.
Mr Bullard has been with the Education Department since 2016 and has acted in the role of Acting Secretary since late last year.
He has over a decade worth of leadership experience in the public service, including the role of Deputy Secretary, Strategy and Performance in the Department of Education, and Deputy Secretary in the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
His extensive leadership experience across all levels of Government will stand him in good stead as we implement our education agenda.
Mrs Morgan-Wicks has been the Acting Secretary of the Department of Justice since August last year, having previously served as the Deputy Secretary at the Department of Treasury and Finance.
She has over 17 years corporate and commercial legal experience working in the private sector and in senior roles at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
Mrs Morgan-Wicks will lead the Justice Department as the Government updates Tasmania’s laws and brings them in line with community expectations, as we were elected to do.
