A Discussion Paper on the proposed amendments to the Climate Change (State Action) Act 2008 is now open for public consultation.
The Act guides the Tasmanian Government’s response to climate change mitigation and adaptation, with the Discussion Paper seeking input from the community on the proposed amendments.
An independent review of the Act was completed in 2016 by Jacobs Australia Pty Ltd which made five recommendations for amendments to the Act.
The Government response to the independent review was released in May 2017, which gave support to recommendations one, two and four, and in-principle support for recommendations three and five.
Community forums will be held to discuss the proposed amendments, with submissions closeing on Wednesday 7 November.
The Discussion Paper is available at www.climatechange.tas.gov.au.
