AGENDA 2016 – Second Quarter Update

Agenda 2016 reflects the Hodgman Liberal Government focus on jobs, heath, education and protecting the vulnerable.

Today we are releasing a Second Quarter update for the period of July to September 2016, which demonstrates the Government has a long term strategic vision for Tasmania and we are delivering on it.

Fifty–seven of the initiatives have been completed with six of these to be announced shortly, two rescheduled and one delayed.

Jobs remain our priority which is why we have reduced red tape, consulted on further planning reforms to unlock Tasmania’s economic potential and jobs,  undertaken our first trade mission to India, released strategies to grow our agricultural sectors, ensured more businesses are Digital Ready, announced workforce development initiatives for the hospitality industry and  progressed job creating infrastructure projects right across the state.

We are delivering on the commitment we made at the beginning of the year to improve essential services this includes investing in new health services like oral health for pregnant women, a new hospital link bus service on the North-West Coast and we are building a new Glenorchy health centre. We have introduced a new Education Act to parliament which will ensure our children get the same educational opportunities as their interstate counterparts, and we have continued to roll out initiatives under our Affordable Housing Action Plan to provide housing for more vulnerable Tasmanians.

There is still more to be done, that’s why we will continue to implement our Plan for a Brighter Future as outlined in AGENDA 2016.
