A key priority of the Hodgman Liberal Government is supporting vulnerable Tasmanians in need which is why we are making a huge investment in affordable housing.
With the Budget back in balance, under Tasmania’s first Affordable Housing Strategy we are implementing our $73.5 million Affordable Housing Action Plan which will deliver affordable housing options for 1600 Tasmanian households over four years, on top of around 1000 families housed each year through Housing Connect and those assisted by Private Rental Assistance which was 3544 households last year.
At the end of the March Quarter the Affordable Housing Action Plan has resulted in 286 new households getting access to safe and affordable housing.
Our Action Plan has 27 different initiatives which includes the following either under construction or development:
New affordable housing initiatives and actions will also inject $235 million into the Tasmanian economy and create up to 550 full-time equivalent jobs over four years.
The Government is getting on with the job of delivering essential services to Tasmanians in need. This is in contrast to Labor who has no plan for affordable housing or addressing homelessness.
