Preliminary data from the latest Quarterly Affordable Housing report shows continued progress in provision of affordable housing for Tasmanians.
The Hodgman Government’s $73.5 million Affordable Housing Action Plan is on track to assisting over 1 600 households into affordable housing by June 2019, providing the help Tasmanians need to access affordable, secure and safe homes.
As at the end of December 2017 we have helped 491 new households to access safe and affordable housing including:
These initiatives have supplied 227 new homes, providing not only a home but also supporting the state’s economy, creating hundreds of jobs from planning through to construction.
Even though we are on track to ensuring over 1 600 Tasmanian households in need are assisted by June 2019, we know there is still much more work to be done.
That is why we have set bold targets to help more Tasmanians into a home by aiming to triple the number of affordable houses by 2025, as well as increase housing for young people at risk by 10 per cent.
