It is disappointing that the AEU and Labor have chosen to play politics over the Premier’s whereabouts today.
The AEU was advised over two weeks ago via the Education Minister’s office that unfortunately the Premier was unable to attend their education forum in Launceston on the 27th of November due to it clashing with Cabinet.
This meant the Education Minister and all other senior members of Government were also unavailable on this day.
For the AEU to seek to politicise this the way they have unfortunately highlights perceptions that they are acting as a political arm of the Labor party rather than in the best interests of Tasmanian students.
Labor may be able to simply reschedule their party meeting – the business of Government and running the State is a lot more serious and not something you can put on hold.
