Aboriginal Artists supported in their professional and artistic development

The Liberal Government is continuing to support the arts and culture in Tasmania by investing in individuals and organisations.

The Government has announced funding totalling $18,411 awarded to five Aboriginal artists around the state through the 2015 Aboriginal Arts program.

Arts Tasmania's Aboriginal Arts Program investment ensures contemporary Aboriginal arts, traditional arts, craft and cultural practices continue to develop in Tasmania.

Craig Everett will receive funding to create a unique dance that will depict the story of the Cape Barren Geese to present at festivals and events across Tasmania in early 2016.

Visual artist Warren Mason will receive funding to create a new body of work to be showcased in a solo exhibition in Hobart in November 2015.

Painter Cheryl Ransom will receive funding to undertake a twelve-month mentorship working with renowned artist, Judith Rose-Thomas.

Funding will help writer and performer Nathan Maynard undertake an intensive twelve-month professional career development in playwriting and theatre performance.

Sculptor Will Stackhouse will receive funding to undertake a mentorship working with renowned artist David Hamilton.

This year's funding will enable these artists to share Tasmania's unique cultural and contemporary histories through their arts practice.
