A helping hand for Tassie's dogs

The Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania plays a vitally integral part in caring for abandoned dogs.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is a strong supporter of the Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania, and has provided much-needed support of $150,000 to undertake critical works programs at the organisation’s Risdon Vale home.

Providing appropriate care to lost and abandoned dogs is a wonderful community service, and the support the Government is providing is in recognition of the significant community service the Dogs’ Home of Tasmania delivers to our state.

Works to be undertaken at the Risdon Vale Dogs’ Home includes upgrades to drainage, security, fencing and waterproofing of pens.

Across the organisation’s three sites, the Dogs’ Home reunites approximately 1500 stray and lost dogs with their owners and finds new homes for more than 1000 unwanted and unclaimed dogs.

On behalf of all Tasmanians, I would like to thank the Dogs’ Home of Tasmania for the diligent work it does in caring for these wonderful animals.
