45 months of continued retail trade growth

Retail trade data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics today confirms Tasmania has extended its extraordinary run of growth to 45 months.

Today’s data also confirms that Tasmania had the fastest rate of retail trade growth in July, outperforming the rest of the nation.

The total value of retail trade in Tasmania grew to a record $543 million for the month of July, an increase of 0.6 per cent over the previous month in trend terms.

Over the year to July 2018, Tasmania’s retail trade grew by 4.8 per cent in trends terms, the second-fastest annual growth rate in the nation and well above the national average.
