The Hodgman Liberal Government is making a valuable investment in the workplace by awarding 26TEN grants to 13 businesses, to lift literacy and numeracy skills in their workplaces.
Congratulations to Duggans Civic Construction, part of the 26TEN Huon Valley Community, and all other recipients across Tasmania, for taking advantage of these grants which will help lift literacy skills for their business, their employees, and their communities.
The $593,022 26TEN grants are for a range of businesses including construction, forestry, aged care, disability services, meat production, community services and health services.
Tasmanian company Duggans will use the grant to support employees as they move to an electronic information management system to improve communication processes in the work place.
I am confident that Duggans will see similar benefits as previous grant recipients Nyrstar and Statewide Independent Wholesalers have seen. The investment in employees literacy and numeracy skills benefit their work, their families and their communities.
This is what 26TEN communities, such as the 26TEN Huon Valley Community, are all about – businesses like Duggans working with other businesses, community centres, the local council and LINC Tasmania to ensure all Tasmanian adults have the skills they need for work and life.
